Sydney McIntosh is a multimedia journalist with more than 5 years of experience. She currently works as an Associate Producer at CNN based in their world headquarters in Atlanta. Currently, she works with Suzanne Malveaux and Michael Holmes on Around the World at 12pm weekdays. Sydney has also produced for CNN Newsroom with Carol Costello, Fredricka Whitfield and Tony Harris. In her role, Sydney’s responsibilities include making editorial decisions on video elements to enhance news stories during the newscast and assisting with the daily rundown. Sydney has worked under rigorous time constraints during multiple breaking news events. She also writes and produces segments for air. In addition to those duties, Sydney writes blog entries and produces content to increase her show’s social media presence.
Sydney started her career at CNN in July 2007 as a Video Journalist and quickly moved up to an Editorial Assistant in January 2008. She graduated Cum Laude from Virginia Tech in May 2007 with a B.A. in Mass Communication. At Virginia Tech, Sydney was the News Director of VTTV (Virginia Tech Television), President of the VT chapter of Society of Professional Journalists and worked as an oral communication coach at the CommLab. She also had two internships with local news stations WTKR in Norfolk, VA and WSLS in Roanoke, VA. In the last month of school before graduation, Sydney had the opportunity to work as a student journalist with CNN’s Soledad O’Brien on a news special on Virginia Tech Tragedy.
When Sydney is not working two jobs, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, reading, and watching sports. She is a devout Chicago sports supporter. She is a huge fan of Chicago Bulls, Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and also cheers for her alma mater the Virginia Tech Hokies.
